Background + Goals

My guilty pleasure for singing competition shows sparked this creative project

As a long-time viewer of The Voice, I've always wanted to put myself in the singers' shoes and try my luck as if I were on the show. This led me into creating a quick concept mockup of a karaoke game where players can experience the blind audition process on their mobile device. My goal for this passion project was to showcase more of my UI skills while also delivering a fun and unique game concept through a final mockup.

The Opportunity

How might we translate The Voice's blind audition process into a mobile game and ultimately attract an even wider audience to the show?

Welcome to the blind auditions

This screen sets the mood as you prepare for your biggest singing audition yet.

Screen #2

Song selection is key

Before starting, players must choose from a list of songs by either using the search bar or navigating between the "for you" and "popular" tabs.

Get all four chairs to turn and earn a high score

Sing well and attract the coaches' attention within a certain time limit. With the song lyrics provided, along with pitch detection, players are sure to nail their blind auditions.

Results + Impact

Understanding and measuring positive business outcomes based on my designs

While not an official game, I thought it would be important to reflect on the measurable impact that Blind Mic could have on the TV show and its business. That said, here are a few quantitative, post-launch metrics that I would look out for:

Advocacy

How many players spread the word about the show to others

Viewer Count

How many players end up tuning in to the show after playing the game

Revenue

How much did business raise after a certain amount of time
